Maybe it’s broken, maybe not

Wednesday, November 11th, 2009

Jake may or may not have a slight crack in his collar bone – that’s the verdict from the ortho doc. That’s an improvement from the Sunday morning status at the emergency room. Treatment is now do what doesn’t hurt, so he will be back out and about really soon – although he might not be playing soccer goalie again this season.

For those of you keeping score at home, this would be his third broken collar bone – that is actually why the diagnosis is unclear. The “maybe” crack line is right in with the damage from before.

He was playing goal keeper for his soccer team ( a first!) and came out diving at full speed at a player’s feet. Jake claims the player kicked him, but I would have to say that Jake was flying out there and was responsible for at least 50% of the collision.

So he is still sore on his shoulder, but should be back in action really soon.

Feeling better – almost

Wednesday, March 11th, 2009

Things are looking up health wise – and about time. I still have the night time coughs and not much energy, but the sick feeling is gone.

Nancy and Jake enjoyed their joint birthday yesterday. I baked a cake and we all went out to Red Robin for dinner.

Two crazy shootings in the news this morning, one in gun loving Alabama, and one in gun restricting Germany. Seems there is not much you can do with laws to stop pure insane evil.

Buz and Mental Exercise

Tuesday, August 19th, 2008

Today Nancy travels down to Virginia with her Dad to see a specalist about using a computer program to try to exercise Buz’s brain – by doing games, puzzles, etc.. Although a long shot, this has been shown in some studies to help patients with degenerative brain disorders. Most of the work has been done on younger patients – Buz is 84 – but unlike experimental drugs this kind of experimentation seems to be risk free – all it takes is a small cost and time, and Buz has lots of time each day.

The dry August pattern continues. Down in Florida TS Fay is just coming ashore on Florida proper. However hopes that the remnant depression might head our way have diminished.

We had our first soccer practice last night. We had seven active players plus one with a broken foot. It will be next week, once school starts and everyone is back before we can really see what kind of team we have this year.
